How to handle sodium sulfide in laboratory environment?

In laboratory settings, extra caution is required when handling sodium sulfide. Before use, safety goggles and rubber gloves must be worn, and operations are best conducted within a fume hood. Once the reagent bottle is opened, it should be immediately sealed in a plastic bag to prevent absorption of moisture from the air, which would turn it into a paste. If the bottle is accidentally knocked over, do not rinse with water! First, cover the spill with dry sand or soil, then collect it using a plastic shovel into a dedicated waste container.
